Tratamiento:
El tratamiento efectivo de la causa subyacente usualmente cura el problema. La proctitis causada por infección se trata con antibióticos. Los corticosteroides y los supositorios de mesalamina pueden aliviar los sÃntomas de proctitis en personas con enfermedad de Crohn o colitis ulcerativa.
