Enteritis

Definición:

Es una inflamación del intestino delgado.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La enteritis es usualmente causada por comer o beber sustancias contaminadas con bacterias o virus. Los gérmenes se establecen en el intestino delgado causando inflamación y edema que pueden provocar dolor abdominal , cólicos, diarrea , fiebre y deshidratación .

La enteritis también puede ser resultado de:

La inflamación frecuentemente también compromete al estómago ( gastritis ) y al intestino grueso ( colitis ).

Los factores de riesgo abarcan: enfermedad familiar reciente con síntomas intestinales, un viaje reciente o exposición a aguas contaminadas o no tratadas.
