Gastritis
Definición:
Es la inflamación o hinchazón del revestimiento del estómago.
Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
Existen muchas causas de gastritis.
Las más comunes son:
- Alcohol
- Erosión (pérdida) de la capa protectora del revestimiento del estómago
- Infección del estómago con la bacteria Helicobacter pylori
- Medicamentos (como la aspirina y los antiinflamatorios)
- Tabaquismo
Las causas menos comunes son:
- Trastornos autoinmunitarios (como anemia perniciosa)
- Reflujo de bilis hacia el estómago (reflujo biliar)
- Ingerir o beber sustancias corrosivas o cáusticas (como las sustancias tóxicas)
- Exceso de secreción de ácido gástrico (como el ocasionado por el estrés)
- Infección viral, especialmente en personas con un sistema inmunitario débil
La gastritis puede presentarse en forma súbita ( gastritis aguda ) o en forma gradual ( gastritis crónica ).
