Tratamiento:

El tratamiento por lo general sólo ayuda cuando se inicia muy temprano en el curso de la enfermedad. Se han utilizado inyecciones de cobre dentro de una vena o debajo de la piel con resultados mixtos.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La mayoría de las personas con esta afección muere en los primeros años de vida.

Se debe consultar con el médico si una persona tiene antecedentes de síndrome de Menkes y planea tener hijos. Un bebé con esta afección a menudo presentará síntomas a comienzos de la lactancia.
