Acidemia metilmalónica - Síntomas

Síntomas:

La enfermedad puede causar convulsiones y accidente cerebrovascular. Los bebés pueden parecer normales al nacer, pero presentan síntomas una vez que empiezan a consumir más proteína, lo cual puede hacer que la afección empeore.

Los síntomas abarcan:

  • Enfermedad cerebral que empeora (encefalopatía progresiva)
  • Deshidratación
  • Retrasos en el crecimiento
  • Desarrollo retardado
  • Letargo
  • Infecciones recurrentes por levaduras
  • Convulsiones
  • Vómitos

Signos y exámenes:

Los exámenes para la acidemia metabólica generalmente se llevan a cabo como parte de los exámenes del recién nacido.
