Pubertad precoz - Overview

Pubertad prematura

Definición:

La pubertad es el tiempo durante el cual maduran las características sexuales y físicas. La pubertad precoz es cuando estos cambios corporales suceden más temprano de lo normal.

Causas:

La pubertad por lo regular empieza entre las edades 10 y 14 para las niñas y 12 y 16 para los niños. Algunas niñas estadounidenses de raza negra pueden empezar la pubertad más temprano, alrededor de los 9 años de edad.

La edad exacta en que un niño ingresa a la pubertad depende de muchas cosas diferentes, como los genes, la nutrición y el sexo de una persona.

Con frecuencia, no hay ninguna causa clara para la pubertad precoz, pero algunos casos se deben a cambios en el cerebro, problemas genéticos o ciertos tumores que secretan hormonas. Estas afecciones abarcan:
