Se llevarán a cabo exámenes de sangre para verificar los niveles de calcio, fósforo, cloruro, bicarbonato y PTH. Se hace un examen de orina en 24 horas para determinar qué tanto calcio está siendo eliminado del cuerpo.

Las radiografías y un examen de densidad ósea pueden ayudar a detectar pérdida ósea y reblandecimiento de los huesos.
