Tratamiento:

El tratamiento depende de la causa de la infertilidad y puede consistir en:

  • Educación y asesoría.
  • Tratamientos, como inseminación intrauterina (IIU) y fecundación in vitro (FIV).
  • Medicamentos para tratar infecciones y trastornos de coagulación.
  • Medicamentos que le ayudan a la mujer a formar y liberar óvulos de los ovarios.

Es importante reconocer y analizar el impacto emocional que la infertilidad tiene en usted y en su pareja y buscar la orientación profesional de un médico.

Usted puede incrementar sus probabilidades de quedar embarazada cada mes teniendo relaciones sexuales al menos cada tres días antes y durante la ovulación. Es importante hacer esto 72 horas antes de que la ovulación comience.

La ovulación ocurre aproximadamente dos semanas antes de que el siguiente ciclo menstrual (período) empiece. Si una mujer tiene su período cada 28 días, la pareja debe tener relaciones sexuales al menos cada tres días entre el 10.º y 18.º día después del inicio de su período.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Hasta 1 de cada 5 parejas a quienes se les diagnostica la infertilidad finalmente logran quedar en embarazo sin tratamiento.

Más de la mitad de las parejas con infertilidad resultan embarazadas después de un tratamiento, sin incluir técnicas avanzadas como la fecundación in vitro (FIV).

Posibles complicaciones:

La infertilidad puede tener un gran impacto emocional en usted y en su pareja.

Se puede presentar depresión, ansiedad y problemas maritales.
