Cáncer tiroideo - Síntomas

Nombres alternativos

Tumor tiroideo; Cáncer de tiroides

Síntomas:

Tos simple o tos con sangrado
Dificultad para deglutir
Agrandamiento de la glándula tiroides
Ronquera o cambios en la voz
Hinchazón en el cuello
Tumor (nódulo) tiroideo

Nota: los síntomas pueden variar dependiendo del tipo de cáncer tiroideo.

Signos y exámenes:

Un examen físico puede revelar una masa o nódulo tiroideo (generalmente en la parte inferior del frente del cuello) o agrandamiento de los ganglios linfáticos cervicales.

Exámenes para cáncer tiroideo:

Calcitonina en suero (para cáncer medular) o tiroglobulina en suero (para cáncer papilar o folicular) elevadas
Laringoscopia que muestre cuerdas vocales paralizadas
Biopsia de tiroides que muestre células de cáncer anaplásico, folicular, medular o papilar
Gammagrafía de tiroides que muestre un nódulo que no se ilumina en la gammagrafía (nódulo hipocaptante o frío)
Ecografía de la tiroides que muestre un nódulo
