Los exámenes de sangre se hacen para verificar el aumento en los niveles de hormona paratiroidea (PTH), calcio y fosfatasa alcalina, al igual que los niveles bajos de
fósforo sérico

Los exámenes adicionales abarcan:

Recolección de orina de 24 horas que puede mostrar incremento del calcio urinario.

RadiografÃa de hueso
que muestra reabsorción ósea o
fracturas

RadiografÃas, ecografÃa o TC de los riñones o uréteres que pueden mostrar calcificación u obstrucción.

Examen de la densidad ósea que puede mostrar reducción en la densidad mineral ósea, particularmente del antebrazo.
