Trastornos de la articulación temporomandibular - Symptom

Síntomas:

Los síntomas asociados con los trastornos de la articulación temporomandibular pueden ser:

  • Dificultad o molestia al morder o masticar
  • Chasquido o chirrido al abrir o cerrar la boca
  • Dolor facial sordo en la cara
  • Dolor de oído
  • Dolor de cabeza
  • Dolor o sensibilidad en la mandíbula
  • Disminución de la capacidad de abrir o cerrar la boca

Pruebas y exámenes:

Posiblemente sea necesario ver a más de un especialista para el dolor y los síntomas de la ATM, como el médico de cabecera, un odontólogo o un otorrinolaringólogo, dependiendo de los síntomas.

Un examen completo puede involucrar:

  • Una evaluación dental que puede mostrar si usted tiene mala alineación en la mordida
  • Palpar la articulación y los músculos de conexión para detectar sensibilidad
  • Presionar en distintas áreas de la cabeza en busca de áreas sensibles o con dolor
  • Deslizar los dientes de un lado a otro
  • Observar, sentir y escuchar al abrir y cerrar la mandíbula
  • Radiografías para mostrar anomalías

Algunas veces, los resultados del examen físico pueden aparecer normales.

El médico también necesitará tener en cuenta otras afecciones, tales como infecciones, infecciones del oído, neuralgias, o problemas relacionados con los nervios y dolores de cabeza, como la causa de sus síntomas.
