Tendinitis

Definición:

Es la inflamación, irritación e hinchazón de un tendón, la estructura fibrosa que une el músculo con el hueso. En muchos casos, también se presenta tendinosis (degeneración del tendón).

Nombres alternativos:

Tendinitis bicipital; Tendinitis calcificada

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La tendinitis puede ser consecuencia de una lesión, exceso de uso o la edad a medida que el tendón pierde su elasticidad. También se puede observar en enfermedades sistémicas , como la artritis reumatoidea o la diabetes. La tendinitis puede ocurrir en cualquier tendón, pero los lugares más afectados son el hombro, la muñeca, el talón ( tendinitis aquiliana ) y el codo.
