Displasia fibrosa

Definición:

La displasia fibrosa se refiere a un grupo de afecciones que destruye y reemplaza el hueso normal con masas óseas quísticas. Existen tres variedades:

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Esta afección ocurre durante la niñez, generalmente entre los 3 y 15 años de edad. Algunos de sus síntomas son lesiones de los huesos, pigmentación inusual de la piel y anomalías de las glándulas  endocrinas . Las lesiones de los huesos pueden dejar de formarse cuando el niño llega a la pubertad. Esta afección no es hereditaria y se desconoce su causa.
