El examen del pie es suficiente para que el médico realice el diagnóstico. Sin embargo, se debe determinar la causa subyacente. Si se presenta arco cuando el paciente se para sobre los dedos, entonces se dice que el pie es y no es necesario realizar un tratamiento o hacer un seguimiento posterior.

Por el contrario, si se presenta dolor relacionado con el pie o si no se desarrolla el arco al pararse en los dedos, es necesario tomar radiografías. Si se sospecha de una coalición tarsal, a menudo, se ordena una TC y en caso de sospecharse de una lesión en el tendón de la tibia, se puede recomendar un IRM.
