Síndrome uretral

Definición:

Es una hinchazón e irritación (inflamación) prolongada de la uretra, el conducto que lleva la orina fuera del cuerpo. Esta inflamación continúa durante semanas o meses.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La uretritis crónica por lo general es causada ya sea por una infección bacteriana o por un problema estructural que ocasiona estrechamiento de la uretra.

Las causas abarcan:

Bacteria E. coli
Enfermedades de transmisión sexual como clamidia y gonorrea
Productos de higiene personal, especialmente productos femeninos

La uretritis crónica se presenta tanto en mujeres como en hombres.
