Enfermedad de Peyronie

Definición:

Es una curvatura anormal en el pene que ocurre durante la erección. También se denomina enfermedad de Peyronie.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

En la enfermedad de Peyronie, se desarrolla un tejido cicatricial fibroso bajo la piel del pene, cuya causa no se conoce.

La fractura del pene (lesión durante la relación sexual) puede llevar a esta afección. Los pacientes tienen un riesgo más alto de cáncer de próstata después de cirugía o tratamiento de radiación.

La enfermedad de Peyronie es poco común y afecta a hombres entre los 40 y los 60 años de edad y más.

La curvatura del pene puede ocurrir con la contractura de Dupuytren, un engrosamiento similar a un cordón a través de la palma de una o ambas manos. Es un trastorno bastante común en los hombres blancos de más de 50 años de edad. Sin embargo, sólo un pequeño número de personas con contractura de Dupuytren desarrollan una curvatura en el pene.

No se han encontrado otros factores de riesgo. Sin embargo, las personas con esta afección tienen un tipo de marcador celular inmunitario que indica que dicha afección puede ser hereditaria.

Los recién nacidos pueden tener una curvatura del pene, que puede ser parte de una anomalía llamada hipospadias (esto es diferente de la enfermedad de Peyronie).
