Síntomas:

• Inflamación escrotal
• Testículo sensible, inflamado y con sensación de pesadez
• Ingle edematizada y sensible en el lado afectado
• Fiebre
• Flujo del pene
• Dolor al orinar (disuria)
• Dolor en la relación sexual o la eyaculación
• Dolor inguinal
• Dolor testicular que puede empeorar por las evacuaciones intestinales o la tensión intestinal
• Sangre en el semen

Signos y exámenes:

Un examen físico puede mostrar sensibilidad y aumento de tamaño de los ganglios linfáticos en el área inguinal de lado afectado, así como también un testículo de mayor tamaño y sensible. El tacto rectal puede revelar un agrandamiento o sensibilidad en la próstata.

Los exámenes que se pueden practicar son:

• Análisis de orina
• Urocultivo (de una muestra limpia) : se pueden necesitar varias muestras que incluyen: orina del chorro inicial, orina de la mitad del chorro y orina después de un masaje de próstata.
• Pruebas de detección de clamidia y gonorrea (frotis uretral)
• CSC (conteo sanguíneo completo)
• Ecografía Doppler
• Gammagrafía testicular (medicina nuclear)
