Reacción a una transfusión de sangre
La sangre donada se clasifica en grupos ABO y Rh para reducir el riesgo de reacción a una transfusión.
Antes de una transfusión, generalmente se le hacen pruebas a la sangre del paciente y del donante (pruebas cruzadas) para ver si es compatible. Se mezcla una pequeña cantidad de la sangre donada con una pequeña cantidad de la sangre del paciente y la mezcla se examina bajo el microscopio para buscar signos de una reacción a los anticuerpos.
