Los síntomas de una reacción a una transfusión generalmente aparecen durante o inmediatamente después de la transfusión. Algunas veces, pueden desarrollarse después de algunos días (reacción retrasada o demorada). Los síntomas pueden mantenerse leves o progresar hasta causar insuficiencia renal, anemia retrasada o shock .
