Prevención:

Si una persona o alguien de su familia sufre de hipertermia maligna, es muy importante comentárselo al médico, especialmente antes de someterse a una cirugía con anestesia general. El uso de los anestésicos apropiados puede evitar complicaciones de la hipertermia maligna durante la cirugía.

Es importante evitar el consumo de drogas estimulantes, como cocaína, anfetaminas (estimulantes) y éxtasis, ya que estas drogas pueden producir problemas similares a la hipertermia maligna en individuos susceptibles a esta afección.

A las personas que tengan antecedentes familiares de miopatía, distrofia muscular o hipertermia maligna se les recomienda buscar asesoría genética.
