Teratoma maligno - Síntomas

Síntomas:

Los síntomas son ocasionados por la diseminación del tumor a los tejidos circundantes y entre ellos se incluyen:

  • Tos
  • Dificultad respiratoria
  • Dolor torácico
  • Baja tolerancia al ejercicio
  • Fatiga

Signos y exámenes:

En el examen físico, el médico puede observar signos de insuficiencia cardíaca congestiva y aumento de la presión en la cavidad torácica. El diagnóstico se hace realizando los siguientes exámenes.

  • Historia clínica y examen físico
  • TC de tórax, abdomen y pelvis
  • Niveles elevados de b-HCG y de AFP en la sangre
  • Mediastinoscopia y biopsia: utilización de un endoscopio especial para auscultar el mediastino (mediastinoscopia) y extirpar un pedazo del tumor (biopsia)
  • Mediastinotomía anterior: cirugía abierta para extirpar el tumor o parte de éste
