Frambesia tropical
Es una infección prolongada (crónica) que afecta principalmente la piel, los huesos y las articulaciones.
El pian es una infección causada por la bacteria en forma de espiral Treponema pallidum, subespecie pertenue, estrechamente relacionada con la bacteria que causa la sífilis, pero esta enfermedad no se transmite sexualmente. El pian afecta principalmente a niños en áreas rurales, templadas y tropicales como las islas del Caribe, América Latina, África occidental, India y el sudeste de Asia.
El pian se trasmite por contacto directo con lesiones cutáneas de personas infectadas.
