Celulitis estreptocócica perianal - Treatment

Tratamiento:

La infección se trata con antibióticos durante aproximadamente 10 días, dependiendo de qué tan bien y qué tan rápido parezcan estar obrando. La penicilina es el antibiótico que se emplea con mayor frecuencia en niños que no son alérgicos a ella.

La mupirocina se puede aplicar directamente sobre la piel (tópica) y se puede emplear junto con otros antibióticos, pero no debe ser el único tratamiento.

Pronóstico:

Con el tratamiento con antibióticos, los niños generalmente se recuperan rápidamente, pero si el niño no mejora con esto, es importante ponerse en contacto con el médico.

Posibles complicaciones:

Cicatrización, fístula o absceso anal
Sangrado, flujo
Infecciones en el torrente sanguíneo u otras infecciones estreptocócicas (incluyendo corazón, articulaciones y hueso)
Nefropatía (glomerulonefritis aguda)
Infección severa de piel y tejidos blandos (fascitis necrosante)

Cuándo contactar a un profesional médico:

Consulte con el médico si su hijo se queja de dolor en el área rectal, deposiciones dolorosas o de otros síntomas de celulitis estreptocócica perianal.

Si el niño está tomando antibióticos para esta afección y el área de enrojecimiento empeora o la molestia o la fiebre se están incrementando, consulte con el médico inmediatamente.
