Definición:

Es una infección cutánea en la cual la piel resulta dañada y se desprende.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

El síndrome de la piel escaldada es causado por infección con ciertas cepas de bacterias en la familia Estafilococo. Durante la infección, los estafilococos producen un tóxico que ocasiona daño a la piel.

Este síndrome se encuentra más comúnmente en bebés y en niños menores de 5 años.
