Corea de Sydenham - Symptom

Baile o mal de San Vito

Síntomas:

  • Cambios en la escritura a mano
  • Movimientos espasmódicos, incontrolables y sin ningún propósito similares a fasciculaciones; los movimientos anormales desaparecen durante el sueño
  • Pérdida del control de la motricidad fina, especialmente de los dedos y de las manos
  • Pérdida del control emocional con ataques inapropiados de llanto o risa
  • Síntomas de fiebre reumática (ver: fiebre reumática aguda)

Signos y exámenes:

Pueden presentarse antecedentes de dolor de garganta durante varias semanas antes de la corea de Sydenham.

Entre los exámenes que pueden mostrar signos de fiebre reumática está la tasa de sedimentación eritrocítica (ESR, por sus siglas en inglés).

Se pueden hacer diferentes exámenes para identificar si el niño puede tener una infección por estreptococos.
