Toxoplasmosis congénita

Prevención:

Las futuras madres, o aquellas que planean serlo, pueden hacerse un examen serológico para determinar si corren el riesgo o no de sufrir de toxoplasmosis. Por otra parte, las mujeres embarazadas que tienen gatos como mascotas pueden estar en mayor riesgo de contraer toxoplasmosis.

Las futuras madres deben evitar el contacto con materiales que puedan estar potencialmente infectados con heces de gatos o que pudieran estar contaminados por insectos expuestos a las heces de gatos (cucarachas, moscas, etc.). La carne debe estar bien cocida y se deben lavar las manos después de manipular carne cruda.
