Pleuresía

Definición:

La pleuresía es una inflamación del revestimiento de los pulmones que ocasiona dolor al respirar o toser.

Pleuritis; dolor torácico pleurítico

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La pleuresía puede desarrollarse cuando la persona presenta inflamación pulmonar debido a infecciones tales como neumonía o tuberculosis. Igualmente, puede ocurrir con enfermedades reumáticas, trauma torácico, ciertos cánceres y enfermedad relacionada con el asbesto.

Cuando se presenta pleuresía, el revestimiento pulmonar (pleura) normalmente liso se torna áspero. Se presenta fricción con cada respiración y se puede producir un sonido bronco, chirriante denominado "roce" que se puede oír con el estetoscopio o colocando el oído contra el tórax del paciente.
