Kuru - Symptom

Síntomas:

Los síntomas del kuru abarcan:

Dolor en brazos y piernas
Problemas de coordinación, que finalmente se vuelven graves
Dificultad para caminar (ataxia cerebelar)
Dolor de cabeza
Dificultad para deglutir
Temblores y espasmos musculares (mioclono)

La dificultad para deglutir y la incapacidad para alimentarse uno mismo, lo cual puede llevar a que se presente desnutrición o inanición.

El tiempo promedio desde la exposición hasta los síntomas (período de incubación) es de 10 a 13 años, pero se ha informado de periodos de incubación de 30 años o incluso más.

Signos y exámenes:

Un examen neurológico puede mostrar cambios en la coordinación y en la capacidad de caminar.
