No existe un tratamiento conocido para el kuru.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La muerte generalmente ocurre dentro del primer año después del primer signo de síntomas.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe buscar asistencia médica si la persona tiene algún problema para caminar, deglutir o en la coordinación. El kuru es extremadamente raro y el médico debe descartar otras enfermedades neurológicas.
