Síntomas:

Los síntomas iniciales de la enfermedad por hantavirus son similares a los de la gripe y abarcan:

Escalofríos
Fiebre
Dolores musculares

Las personas con hantavirus pueden comenzar a sentirse mejor durante un período de tiempo muy corto, pero al cabo de uno o dos días, pueden tener dificultad para respirar. La enfermedad empeora rápidamente. Los síntomas abarcan:

Tos seca
Sensación de indisposición (malestar general)
Dolor de cabeza
Náuseas y vómitos
Dificultad respiratoria

Pruebas y exámenes:

El médico llevará a cabo un examen físico, el cual puede revelar:

Síndrome de dificultad respiratoria aguda (SDRA)
Insuficiencia renal
Presión arterial baja (hipotensión)
Niveles bajos de oxígeno en la sangre, lo cual hace que la piel se torne de color azul

Se pueden hacer los siguientes exámenes:

Exámenes de sangre en busca de signos del hantavirus
Hemograma o conteo sanguíneo completo (CSC)
Grupo de pruebas metabólicas completas
Pruebas de la función renal y hepática
Radiografía de tórax
