Conjuntivitis primaveral
Definición:
Es una inflamación del revestimiento externo de los ojos, asociada con las estaciones, la cual se cree que se debe a una reacción alérgica.
Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
Se cree que la conjuntivitis primaveral es causada por reacciones alérgicas y, de hecho, a menudo existen fuertes antecedentes familiares de alergias. Se presenta con más frecuencia durante la primavera y el verano.
La afección se caracteriza por ojos llorosos con picazón. El lado inferior de los párpados puede volverse áspero y cubierto de protuberancias y un moco blancuzco. El tejido alrededor de la córnea, donde se encuentran la esclerótica y la córnea (limbo), puede volverse áspero e inflamado. Si esta inflamación y aspereza se extienden sobre la córnea, puede ocasionar cicatrización y disminución de la visión.
