Prevención:

En los Estados Unidos, las leyes que regulan las prácticas alimentarias y la inspección de los alimentos provenientes de animales domésticos han eliminado ampliamente las tenias.

El hecho de evitar la carne cruda y cocer la carne lo suficiente (a más de 140º F [60º C] durante 5 minutos) prevendrá la infección por tenia. Asimismo, congelar las carnes a - 4º F (- 20º C) durante 24 horas también destruye los huevos de la tenia. La buena higiene y el lavado de las manos después de usar el inodoro previenen la autoinfección en una persona que ya esté infectada con tenias.
