Panencefalitis esclerosante subaguda - Symptom

Encefalitis de Dawson; SSPE; Leucoencefalitis esclerosante subaguda

Síntomas:

  • Comportamiento extraño
  • Demencia (pérdida de las capacidades cognitivas -pensamiento-, emocionales y sociales)
  • Coma
  • Cambios graduales de comportamiento
  • Espasmos mioclónicos (espasmos o movimientos espasmódicos musculares rápidos)
  • Problemas en la escuela
  • Crisis epiléptica
  • Marcha inestable
  • Músculos muy tensos o falta de tono muscular, con debilidad en ambas piernas

Signos y exámenes:

Puede haber antecedentes de sarampión en un niño que no ha sido vacunado. Un examen físico puede revelar:

  • Daño al nervio óptico, que es el responsable de la visión
  • Daño a la retina, la parte del ojo que recibe la luz
  • Fasciculaciones musculares
  • Desempeño deficiente en pruebas de coordinación motora (movimiento)
