Panencefalitis esclerosante subaguda - Treatment

Tratamiento:

No existe cura para la panencefalitis esclerosante subaguda, sin embargo, ciertos fármacos antivirales pueden disminuir la progresión de la enfermedad.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Las personas afectadas mueren con frecuencia 1 ó 2 años después del diagnóstico de esta afección, pero algunas pueden sobrevivir por períodos más largos. La enfermedad siempre es fatal.

Complicaciones:

Antes de la muerte puede haber:

  • Cambios en el comportamiento
  • Demencia
  • Estupor y coma
  • Crisis epilépticas y lesiones posteriores
