Poliarteritis nudosa - Overview

Periarteritis nudosa

Definición:

Es una grave enfermedad vascular en la cual las arterias pequeñas y medianas resultan inflamadas y dañadas.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La poliarteritis nudosa es una enfermedad de causa desconocida que afecta las arterias, los vasos sanguíneos que transportan la sangre oxigenada a los órganos y los tejidos. Se presenta cuando ciertas células inmunitarias atacan las arterias afectadas.

Más adultos que niños contraen esta enfermedad. La enfermedad causa daño a los tejidos irrigados por las arterias afectadas, dado que los tejidos no están recibiendo el oxígeno y nutrición que necesitan.

Las personas con hepatitis B y C activas pueden presentar esta enfermedad.
