Paroniquia
Definición:
Es una infección de la piel que ocurre alrededor de las uñas.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La paroniquia es bastante común y generalmente es causada por una lesión en el área, por ejemplo, por morderse o arrancarse un uñeros (padrastro) o también por recortar o retraer la cutÃcula.
- La paroniquia bacteriana es causada por bacterias.
- La paroniquia por cándida es causada por un tipo especÃfico de hongo levaduriforme
- La paroniquia micótica es causada por un hongo diferente a cándida
Se puede presentar una infección micótica y bacteriana al mismo tiempo.
La paroniquia micótica se puede observar en personas con una infección micótica de la uña y también es común entre las personas con diabetes y entre personas cuyas manos permanecen en el agua por mucho tiempo.
