Infección de la piel alrededor de la uña

Prevención:

Para prevenir la paroniquia:

  • Cuide adecuadamente las uñas y la piel que las circunda.
  • Evite cualquier daño a las uñas o a las puntas de los dedos. Debido a que las uñas crecen lentamente, una lesión puede durar meses.
  • No se coma ni hurgue las uñas.
  • Proteja las uñas de la exposición a los detergentes y químicos, usando guantes protectores de caucho o plástico, preferiblemente forrados en algodón.
  • Lleve sus propios utensilios para el arreglo de las uñas al salón de uñas.

Para minimizar el riesgo del daño a las uñas:

  • Manténgalas libres de asperezas y córteselas semanalmente.
  • Corte las uñas de los pies aproximadamente una vez al mes.
  • Para el arreglo de las uñas de las manos y de los pies, utilice tijeras afiladas, cortauñas o una lima para suavizar los bordes.
  • Recorte las uñas después del baño cuando están más blandas.
  • Recorte las uñas de las manos con un borde ligeramente redondeado y las uñas de los pies rectas y no muy cortas.
  • No recorte las cutículas ni use removedor de cutícula porque pueden dañar la piel que rodea la uña. El arreglo de la cutícula provoca daño en la piel de la base de la uña y deja un punto de entrada para hongos (y bacterias) que pueden producir infección.
