Infección de la piel alrededor de la uña

Síntomas:

El principal síntoma es un área alrededor de la uña que presenta dolor, enrojecimiento e hinchazón, con frecuencia a nivel de la cutícula o en el sitio de un uñero u otra lesión. Puede haber ampollas llenas de pus, especialmente con una infección bacteriana.

Las bacterias hacen que la afección ocurra de manera súbita. Si toda o parte de la infección se debe a un hongo, ésta tiende a presentarse en forma más lenta.

Se pueden presentar cambios en las uñas; por ejemplo, la uña puede lucir desprendida, deforme o tener un color inusual.

Signos y exámenes:

El médico generalmente puede diagnosticar esta afección simplemente examinando la piel que presenta dolor.

El pus o el líquido se puede drenar y enviar al laboratorio para determinar qué tipo de bacteria u hongo está causando la infección.
