Paroniquia - Treatment

Infección de la piel alrededor de la uña

Tratamiento:

Si usted tiene paroniquia bacteriana, remoje la uña con agua caliente 2 ó 3 veces al día ayuda a reducir la inflamación y el dolor.

El médico puede prescribir antibióticos y, en casos severos, puede cortar y drenar la lesión con un instrumento afilado. Es posible que parte de la uña deba ser extirpada.

Si usted tiene paroniquia micótica, el médico puede prescribir medicamentos antimicóticos. Mantenga las manos secas y aplique una sustancia para secar la piel, como la tintura de Castellani.

Pronóstico:

Generalmente, la paroniquia responde bien al tratamiento; sin embargo, las infecciones micóticas pueden durar varios meses.

Posibles complicaciones:

Las complicaciones son infrecuentes, pero pueden abarcar:

  • Absceso
  • Cambios permanentes en la forma de la uña
  • Diseminación de la infección a los tendones, los huesos y el torrente sanguíneo

  • Los síntomas de paroniquia persisten a pesar del tratamiento
  • Los síntomas empeoran o se desarrollan nuevos síntomas como:
    • escalofríos

    • malestar general
    • dolor articular
    • diseminación local de los síntomas
    • dolor muscular
