Vulvitis

Definición:

Es la inflamación de los órganos genitales femeninos externos (vulva).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La vulvitis puede ser causada por un sinnúmero de afecciones, entre las cuales están dermatitis crónica, seborrea o eccema y alergias , particularmente a los jabones, papel higiénico de color, aerosoles vaginales, detergentes, baños de espuma o fragancias. También puede ser causada por infecciones como aquellas por hongos y bacterias, pediculosis o sarna .

La vulvitis puede afectar a mujeres de todas las edades. En mujeres jóvenes y después de la menopausia, los bajos niveles de estrógeno pueden causar la afección.
