Tratamiento:
Si una persona tiene una enfermedad que provoque incremento de los lÃpidos en la sangre, tratar dicha afección puede ayudar a reducir el desarrollo de xantomas.
El médico puede extirpar la tumoración si esto se vuelve molesto, sin embargo, los xantomas pueden reaparecer después de la cirugÃa.
Expectativas (pronóstico):
La tumoración no es cancerosa y es indolora, pero puede ser signo de otra afección médica.
Complicaciones:
La tumoración puede causar un cambio en la apariencia de la persona, lo cual se denomina deformación estética.
Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:
Se debe buscar asistencia médica si se desarrollan xantomas, ya que pueden ser indicio de un trastorno subyacente que necesite tratamiento.
