Úlceras orales; Estomatitis ulcerativa; Úlcera en la boca
El objetivo del tratamiento es aliviar los sÃntomas y eliminar la causa, si se conoce. Una higiene oral completa y cuidadosa puede aliviar algunos de los sÃntomas. Se pueden recomendar antihistamÃnicos tópicos (de uso externo), antiácidos, corticosteroides u otras preparaciones para aplicar sobre la úlcera. Igualmente, se deben evitar las comidas calientes o condimentadas que generalmente aumentan el dolor de este tipo de úlceras.
El desenlace clÃnico varÃa dependiendo de la causa de la úlcera. Muchas úlceras bucales son inofensivas y sanan sin tratamiento.
Sin embargo, hay tipos de cáncer que pueden aparecer primero como una úlcera bucal que no sana. Ver carcinoma escamocelular.
Solicite una cita médica si las úlceras bucales no desaparecen después de 3 semanas, si éstas reaparecen con frecuencia o si se presentan nuevos sÃntomas.
