Tratamiento:

Se puede usar el tiabendazol o el albendazol (antiparasitarios) para tratar la infección. La ivermectina también puede ser efectiva.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La erupción serpiginosa o larva migratoria puede desaparecer espontáneamente al cabo de semanas o meses. El tratamiento ayuda a que la infección desaparezca más rápidamente y es altamente eficaz.

Complicaciones:

  • Infecciones cutáneas secundarias producidas al rascarse
  • Diseminación a los pulmones o al intestino delgado (poco común)

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe acudir al médico si un adulto o un niño presenta una lesión cutánea que es en forma de serpiente, produce picazón y es migratoria.
