Dermatitis perioral - Treatment

Tratamiento:

En general, las cremas para la piel que contienen esteroides no se deben emplear para tratar la dermatitis perioral. El médico puede optar por tratar las protuberancias con otros medicamentos tópicos (aplicados directamente sobre la piel), como metronidazol, eritromicina, peróxido de benzoilo, tracolimus, clindamicina o pimecrolimus.

En casos más graves, se puede requerir el uso de antibióticos orales como la tetraciclina, doxiciclina, minociclina o eritromicina.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La dermatitis perioral es una afección difícil de tratar de manera efectiva y a menudo requiere varios meses de tratamiento.

La reaparición de las protuberancias es frecuente, particularmente si se vuelven a aplicar en la cara cremas para la piel que contengan esteroides.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Consulte con el médico si nota protuberancias persistentes de color rojo alrededor de la boca.
