Prevención:

Se recomienda la asesoría genética para los potenciales padres con antecedentes familiares de cualquier forma de epidermólisis ampollosa.

Durante el embarazo, hay se puede realizar la prueba muestra de vellosidades coriónicas para examinar el feto. Para parejas en alto riesgo de tener un hijo con esta enfermedad, el examen se puede hacer ya en la semana 8 a 10 del embarazo. Hable con el obstetra y el asesor en genética.

Para prevenir el trauma y formación de ampollas en la piel, puede ayudar el hecho de usar almohadillas en las áreas susceptibles de traumatismo como los codos, las rodillas, los tobillos y las nalgas. Asimismo, evite los deportes de contacto.

Los pacientes con epidermólisis ampollosa adquirida que tomen esteroides por más de un mes pueden requerir suplementos de calcio y vitamina D para prevenir la osteoporosis.
