Urticaria pigmentosa - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Los antihistamínicos pueden aliviar algunos de los síntomas como la picazón y el enrojecimiento. Discuta esta opción con el pediatra. Se pueden recomendar otros medicamentos para síntomas de formas más graves e inusuales de urticaria pigmentosa.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La urticaria pigmentosa desaparece hacia la pubertad en aproximadamente la mitad de los niños afectados. Los síntomas por lo general mejoran en otros a medida que se acercan a la edad adulta.

En los adultos, la urticaria pigmentosa se puede transformar en una afección más seria llamada mastocitosis sistémica.

Complicaciones:

Las principales complicaciones son el malestar de la picazón y el posible complejo de tener "manchas". Otros problemas como diarrea y desmayos son poco comunes.

Ciertos medicamentos pueden desencadenar brotes de urticaria pigmentosa. Hable de esto con el médico.

Las picaduras de abejas también pueden causar reacciones alérgicas graves en algunos pacientes con urticaria pigmentosa. El médico le puede aconsejar que lleve consigo un estuche de epinefrina inyectable (como EpiPen o Twinject) para utilizarlo en el caso de una picadura de abeja.
