Tratamiento:

No existe tratamiento específico para este trastorno.

Algunas de las cosas que se pueden hacer abarcan:

  • Usar una peluca y dentaduras postizas para mejorar la apariencia.
  • Emplear lágrimas artificiales para reemplazar el lagrimeo normal y evitar la resequedad de los ojos.
  • Rociar las fosas nasales frecuentemente con un aerosol nasal salino para eliminar los desechos y prevenir una infección.
  • Vivir en un clima más fresco y tomar baños frecuentes de agua refrescante o utilizar aspersores de agua para mantener la temperatura corporal normal (el agua que se evapora de la piel reemplaza la función refrescante del sudor que se evapora de la misma).

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Tener displasia ectodérmica no va a reducir la expectativa de vida, pero usted le debe prestar constante atención a la regulación de la temperatura y otros problemas asociados con esta afección.

Complicaciones:

  • Daño cerebral causado por una temperatura corporal elevada
  • Convulsiones causadas por fiebre alta (convulsiones febriles)
