Furúnculo (divieso)

Definición:

Son infecciones de la piel que involucran todo un folículo piloso y el tejido cutáneo adyacente.

Los forúnculos son muy comunes. Generalmente son causados por las bacterias Staphylococcus aureus, pero pueden ser provocados por otras bacterias y hongos que se encuentran en la superficie de la piel. El daño al folículo piloso permite que estas bacterias penetren más profundamente dentro del folículo y en el tejido por debajo de éste.

Los forúnculos pueden darse en los folículos pilosos de cualquier parte del cuerpo, pero son más comunes en la cara, el cuello, la axila, las nalgas y los muslos. Puede haber uno o muchos forúnculos.
