Tratamiento:
Este trastorno se puede tratar con dapsona, un antibiótico que puede ayudar a la mayorÃa de los pacientes. Asimismo, se recomienda una dieta libre de gluten con el fin de controlar la enfermedad. El cumplimiento de dicha dieta puede eliminar la necesidad de los medicamentos y prevenir complicaciones posteriores.
Expectativas (pronóstico):
La enfermedad se puede controlar bien con tratamiento, pero sin éste, el riesgo de cáncer intestinal puede ser significativo.
Complicaciones:
La enfermedad de tiroides se puede encontrar en muchos pacientes que sufren dermatitis herpetiforme. Estos pacientes también son más propensos a desarrollar ciertos cánceres de los intestinos.
Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:
Se debe consultar con el médico si se presenta una erupción que continúa a pesar del tratamiento casero.
