Endometritis
Definición:
Es una inflamación o irritación del revestimiento del útero (endometrio).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
La causa usual de la endometritis es una infección como:
- Clamidia
- Endometritis gonocócica
- Salpingitis
- Endometritis tuberculosa
- Endometritis purulenta
La endometritis también se puede presentar por:
- Parto
- Aborto (terapéutico, electivo o espontáneo)
- Inserción de un dispositivo intrauterino (DIU)
- CirugÃa u otros procedimientos ginecológicos que requieren inserción de instrumentos médicos
Otros factores de riesgo pueden incluir antecedentes de salpingitis aguda , cervicitis aguda y otras infecciones pélvicas, incluyendo muchas enfermedades de transmisión sexual.
